Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental disability, typically appearing during childhood and affecting a person’s ability to communicate and form social relationships for their entire life^[1]. The US CDC estimates that today ASD affects 1 in 59 children in the United States, and there is currently no approved medication to treat ASD core symptoms^[2].
